Not Alone Series: 2015 Here We Come!

14 Jan

How are we going to make 2015 different than last year? What goals are you planning/making to be more YOU this year? These can be goals can be personal growth, spiritual life, physical/health, or even your love life! Maybe you don’t have concrete ones yet, but it helps to talk them out and get motivated!

This year is going to be not so much about “new beginnings” but rather building on what I’ve been working on.  For me, who used to get easily discouraged when things don’t go according to plan (and still have the tendency to do), I’ve come to realize that the best way to stay on course is to keep it simple.

In recent years, I’ve had lofty and many plans to do grandiose things in my life.  I’d get overwhelmed with working on too many things at once, and lose steam when I realized that I wasn’t keeping on top of the 127 things I’d decided to work on in the new year.

So.

What did I choose to work on this year, you may be wondering?  Well 🙂  This is going to be my year of Faith.  This year I want to grow my heart in Faith and live my faith more exuberantly.  I’m going to go to daily Mass more frequently, and pray at our local perpetual Adoration chapel more often.  I’ve also chosen two saints for myself this year (St. Raphael and St. Anthony.)  Yep, I’m not sticking to one saint for the year.  I’m mixing things up by picking two, which I’m super excited about.  Lol.  Last year, my saints were St. Peter and St. Augustine.  I’m also thinking of doing some travel.  I miss Italy SO much (but tickets to fly there are crazy expensive.)  I also want to travel out to the Wild West.  Seriously, people.  I have the travel itch.

Hmmm, what else?  I want to become more confident in who I am.  Sometimes I get discouraged and listen to the lie that I tell myself that I’m not enough, or that I’m not doing enough, or that my opinion doesn’t matter, or that I’m not making a difference.  But that, my friends, is a lie that I listen to.  Because in actually, I am enough, I’m working my behind off, my opinion does matter, and I am making a difference.

This year I’m working on being more confident.  Like the saying, “Don’t put a question mark where God has put a period” I’m learning to have a confident faith.

I’m learning to state my opinion with confidence.  Be more outgoing.  Look the cute guy in the eye.  Seriously (do any of you females get shy around a handsome guy?).  Smile more.  Make conversation.  Forgive readily and be generous with charity.  Don’t wait for the invitation to try something new.  Count my blessings. Laugh often. Laugh some more.  Count my blessings again.

This week I started taking ballroom dance lessons again, and truth be told, it does a world of good for my confidence.  Who knew?!

What are your goals for 2015?  Do you have specific or generalized goals?

I will leave you with a quote that I wrote and put on my bedroom wall, “Expect the best, and the best will come.

Happppy 2015!!!!!!!  Guys and gals, I’d love to receive your input.  You can reach me either via my email rfogblog at gmail dot com, or by commenting below.  Don’t forget to check out what Jen and Morgan and the rest of the NAS ladies are up to in 2015!
