Keeping It Simple – New Years’ Resolutions

27 Dec

New Year's Humor

Hello and Merry Christmas!  I hope you have had a blessed Christmas season, as I have had with my parents, siblings, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephew.

Today I’ve been thinking about what I’d like my New Year’s resolutions to be.  “Should I do this?”  “Should I focus on that?”  There are a plethora of things that come to mind.  “Maybe I should focus on paying off my college loan.”  “How about working on my ballroom dance skills?”  “Expand my horizons and plan a trip?”

While hanging around my house, I stumbled upon a quote and immediately thought how well the quote fit the scene of New Year’s resolutions :

“Have patience with all things,

but chiefly have patience with yourself.

Do not lose courage

in considering you own imperfections

but instantly set about remedying them

every day begin the task anew.”

(emphasis my own)

-St. Francis de Sales

No matter what our New Year’s resolutions may be, let’s take it one step at a time.

Afterall, Rome wasn’t conquered in one day, was it? 😉
