A Quote For Wednesday

30 Sep

A few of my friends have come to me lately with burdens that weigh heavily on their hearts.

We’ve been praying through these tough times together.

This quote is for you or anyone who is carrying a heavy burden on your heart:

“When you come to serve the Lord,

prepare yourself for trials.

Be sincere of heart and steadfast, undisturbed in times of adversity.

Cling to Him, forsake Him not;

thus, will your future be great.

Accept what befalls you;

in crushing misfortune be patient.

For, in fire gold is tested and worthy men

in the crucible of humiliation.

Trust God and He will help you.

Make straight your ways and hope in Him.

You who fear the Lord, wait for His mercy.

Turn not away, lest you fall.”

Sirach 2:1-7

(Emphasis is my own.)

Our Lord loves us no matter what.  While He is saddened with our sins, His mercy endures forever.  I remind myself and my friends that God allows the strongest to suffer the most because He knows that we can and will carry the cross.

Our Lord helps us carry our crosses, if we allow Him to help us.  Let us invite the Lord into our hearts.  His invitation for us to enter into His heart always remains.  Will we accept His invitation?

Will we humble ourselves and invite Him into our hearts as well?
