Lent Reflection

3 Mar

Lent is almost here – I can hardly believe it!  It seems like just not long ago we were delving into Advent.

I’d like to share with you a quote that I found while working on my senior thesis in college.  I wrote this quote

on a 3 X 5 index card that I now keep in my Bible as a page marker.

The quote is inspiring and seems appropriate for this time during which we prepare for our Lenten journey.

This quote is taken from a book titled “Christian Spirituality in the Catholic Tradition” by Jordan Aumann (great read btw.):

“Each one, however, according to his own gifts and duties must steadfastly advance

along the way of a living faith, which arouses hope and works through love.”

We are all on the journey towards holiness.  Each of us has our own set of gifts and talents.  Each of us has our own crosses to carry and temptations to resist.  Let us keep one another in prayer as we prepare for and

begin this holy season.  Let us be prayer warriors for and with each other, courageously embarking on the

path that, despite it’s treachery and difficulty, will lead us closer to Our Lord.

Praying for you!  Will you pray for me too?

St. Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle,

be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him we humbly pray,

and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,

by the power of God,

cast into hell,

satan and all the evil spirits

who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
